84 Year Old German Man Charged With Keeping a Panzer Tank...in his basement

  • An 84-year-old man from Germany has been convicted of illegal weapons possession.

  • In 2015, an investigation found a WWII Panther tank in his basement, as well as a hoard of ammunition.

  • The stash of weaponry took the army nine hours to remove.

An 84-year-old legend of a man from Germany has been convicted of illegal weapons possession and has been fined €250,000 ($293,972) along with a suspended prison sentence of 14 months.

An investigation into the man's home in Heikendorf, Northern Germany, in 2015 revealed a World War II-era Panther tank, as well as a plethora of ammunition.

The military collector had broken Germany's War Weapons Control Act, according to prosecutors. Defense lawyers argued that the weapons were no longer functional, therefore not in breach of this legislation, according to an RT-DE report.

However, the prosecutors convinced the court that the weapons could still be used---which is absolutely absurd.

The court ruling stated that the man must sell or donate the tank and anti-aircraft cannon to a museum or collector within the next two years, the BBC report.  That's a plus, at least he has the chance to get compensated.

The armaments were discovered in the retiree's basement in 2015 after local authorities were informed (by a Karen) of its war-time contents after the property was searched for Nazi-era art, according to the BBC.

It took 20 soldiers nine hours to remove the trove of military hardware from the unnamed man's home.  It probably took another crew of 20 soldiers ten hours to haul this old dude's brass balls into the jail....

There was also a horde of Nazi memorabilia, including a bust of Hitler, mannequins in Nazi uniforms, swastika pendants, SS rune-shaped lamps, and a statue of a naked warrior holding a sword in his extended hand that once stood outside Hitler's Chancellery in Berlin, by the dictator's favorite sculptor, Arno Breker, reported War History Online.

At the time of the raid, the mayor of Heikendorf, Alexander Orth, told Suddeutsche Zeitung that the man once drove the tank as a snow plow in 1978.

When asked his thoughts on the ownership of the tank, the mayor replied, "One loves steam trains, the other old tanks."

That's a stellar quote, and I hope the snitch that ruined this guy's awesomeness is shunned by the town.

@James Walker. It is Ridiculous. Not Reticulous. For all that tax money spent on public schools, there is no excuse for poor spelling. Not to mention the fact that gun owners are already thought of as idiots by the leftists, socialists, communists, liberals, democrats and Traitors. But I repeat myself.

The world is full of “Karens” and funnier still that a Nazi Karen would exist in Germany is more than appropriate. We have plenty here where I live. You can always tell by their haircuts, their make up, and the lack of testosterone their spouses and boyfriends have.

This is an older article and from what I gather the tank and other stuff ended up here in the US.

Regarding Mr. Short’s comment about every time you buy a 1000 rounds of ammo it gets reported to the BATFE is wrong. Having worked in several gun shops, plus talking to other shops, we and one one else I know EVER reported sales of ammo. If I am wrong please tell me what form to use. Please quit using bogus information. NOW some states may require reporting but this is to a state entity.
